Most doctors won’t tell you just how important your diet is to your overall health. When it comes to living a longer and healthier life, you will need to put down the cheeseburger and pick up a salad. You might be thinking, “Well if I eat in moderation I will be okay. Everyone eats a little unhealthy now and again, right?” Even though the majority of the population eats fast food and junky snacks, that doesn’t mean that it’s okay for your body. You wouldn’t jump off a bridge because you were dared to. The same principle can be applied here. Just because everyone else is doing it doesn’t make it okay.
Americas Obesity Crisis:
Most American citizens are obese. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed before more harm can take place. Big corporations stock the grocery stores with terrible processed foods and add high levels of sugar to everything. These tactics are meant to trigger the release of serotonin in the brain. Sugars and fats causes your brain to start pulsing and releasing serotonin into your bloodstream. This is the same process your brain goes through when you drink caffeine, consume nicotine, or use drugs/alcohol. Your body is literally becoming addicted to the sugar and fat in the food you are taking in. This is what the corporate fat cats want. If you are addicted to their product, you will keep coming back and buying more (very similar to a drug dealer).
Your body can’t keep up with the processed and fatty foods that we intake in the modern day. With the hustle and bustle lifestyle that we personify as a society, you may feel like you don’t have the time to eat healthily, or that you work too much to think about it. This can be a big mistake for your health and the security of the ones who depend on you. More people than ever are dying from heart disease and diabetes. These health problems are directly related to your diet. The great thing we know now is that if you diet and exercise properly you can start to feel healthy again. With diseases that affect your body like diabetes, you can essentially begin to reverse the process if you enact a very strict regimen of leafy greens and vegetables.
Regular exercise can boost your metabolism and jump start your body’s fat burning process. Fat on the body is one of the leading causes of heart issues. When you’re heart starts filling with more cholesterol your chances for a heart attack start to go up in tandem. Use of proper food intake and plenty of running and walking can be enough to lower those levels and reduce your risk of heart failure. When you are exercising making sure to drink plenty of water can help your body perform better and keep you from dehydration.
Moral of the story is to try and be aware of obesity and use your better judgment when it comes to your health. You only get one life, so why not live the healthiest life you can.
